Leaked document shows AMD Zacate Nettop Processors

Friday, July 30th, 2010 | AMD Processor with Comments

AMD Zacate Nettop Processor

Some folks at ATiForum in Germany have found a leaked product roadmap, which shows two new chips with the code name “Zacate.” One is a single core chip that draws 18W of power, and the other will be a dual core chip with a 25W TDP. Both support DirectX 11  graphics and are due out late in the 4th quarter of 2010.

At this point it’s just a ‘leak’ so take the news with a grain of salt – especially the details which are subject to change this early on, but we’re certain AMD is working hard to challenge the Intel D410 and D510 nettop chips.

Dual Core D510 & Nvidia Ion inside

Lenovo sent us the dual core version of their new Ideacentre Q150 nettop.  You can find our full unboxing pics after the break.  On first impression, this Q150 is about the same size and form factor as the Ideacentre Q100 we tested earlier – so it’s tiny!  The Q150 we got features the latest, powerful, Intel Atom D510 dual core 1.66ghz processor.  It also has a large 500gb hard drive, Nvidia Ion graphics (w/HDMI output) and 2gb of RAM.  So, despite it’s small size, we expect it to pack punch.

We’ll be testing this tiny little nettop over the next two weeks, so stay tuned to the blog to read our review.

There are two versions of the Lenovo Ideacentre Q150 available.  The one shown here is the dual core version, available for $349 at Amazon.  There is a also a budget conscious, single core option available for $220 (IdeaCentre Q150 Sing Core Atom D410).

Check out the full set of our unboxing pics after the break.

Viewsonic NexTV $129.99

Viewsonic first showed us the NexTV VMP75 media streamer media streamer last month, and the device is now shipping from both Amazon and Newegg. According to Review Horizon, however, the official release date is July 19th, although it seems possible you could receive it before then if you’ve already pre-ordered the device or get your order in soon.

As for the device itself, it’s still listed at $129.99, and will give you the usual Netflix streaming, and support for playback of content from either your home network or an attached drive.  Media streamers, in essence, are nothing more than low power, made for TV nettops.  Think of it as your traditional HTPC nettop lite!

A few media streamers are popping up at the moment, one of which is the Buffalo’s new LT-V100 Link Theater.  You may be asking, what’s media streamer.  Well, think of it as a nettop dedicated solely to the purpose of streaming video content to your TV or monitor.

This Buffalo is a little box offering HDMI and composite video plus optical and good ‘ol 3.5mm audio outputs, able to manage 1080p when streaming content either over Ethernet or pulling it right from USB-based storage. It plays anything from RealVideo to Matroska, naturally with various flavors of MPEG, WMV, and Xvid along the way. It’ll also do images and plenty of audio formats as well.  And the price, about ¥11,500 — about $130 — if you live in Japan.
