xtreamer ultra nettop

Xtreamer is getting ready to launch its first nettop, featuring an Intel Atom D525 dual core processor and NVIDIA ION 2 graphics.

The Xtreamer Ultra will have a starting price of just €100, or less than $140 US. Admittedly, the base prices only gets you a barebones unit without an operating system or hard drive, but it does come with HDMI and DVI output, six USB ports, an eSATA port, WiFi, Bluetooth, Ethernet, and IR connectivity. The computer supports up to 4GB of DDR3 RAM – however it looks like the base model will came with a paltry 512mb.

Xtreamer plans to launch the Ultra at CeBit in Germany in March.

sapphire edge hd nettop

Sapphire, better known for making computer graphics cards, has ventured into making full computers.   Their first effort is a nettop called the Sapphire Mini PC Edge-HD and in a nod to their pedigree, the Edge-HD has a focus on high performance graphics. Under the hood of this nettop is an NVIDIA ION 2 graphics card bundled with a low power 1.66 GHz Intel Atom D510 dual core processor.

There’s also a 250GB 2.5 inch hard drive, 2G of DDR2 memory, HDMI and VGA ports, 4 USB 2.0 ports, audio jacks, and 10/100/1000 Mbps Ethernet. It also comes with 802.11b/g/n WiFi.

The nettop is expected to run about $300, and that price seems to include 1GB USB flash drive with drivers as well as an HDMI cable, HDMI to DVI adapter and a stand.

Dreamplug PC plugs right into the wall, but has one fatal flaw

Tuesday, February 8th, 2011 | Dreamplug Nettops with Comments

Dreamplug Nettop

The  DreamPlug is a nettop so small that it doesn’t even need a power adapter – the entire nettop is an oversized plug that goes straight into your wall jack.  The Dreamplug is powered by a 1.2 GHz Marvell Sheeva ARM-based processor, 512MB of DDR2 memory, 1GB of storage, and Ethernet, USB, and eSATA connectors, 802.11b/g/ WiFi, Bluetooth, a headphone jack and an SD card slot.

There’s one major thing lacking on the Dreamplug howerver.   There’s no VGA, DVI, or HDMI output — and that’s because there’s no graphics processor on board. While it’d be kind of neat to plug a keyboard, monitor, and mouse into the DreamPlug and run a light-weight desktop Linux distribution, the little guy is really designed for simpler tasks such as network storage, managing a security system, or home automation.

The DreamPlug measures just 4.3″ x 2.7″ x 1.9″ and uses just 5W of power. It’s based on the Plug Computer platform.
