eMachines ER1402 nettop

Just a few days ago, we learned that eMachines (an Acer subsidiary) introduced a new mini-desktop in New Zealand this weekcalled the eMachines ER1401.  We couldn’t find any mention of this new nettop here in the States, and here’s why – there’s another new eMachines nettop, the ER1402, and it’s already available for $299.99 from Amazon with free shipping.

The biggest difference between this nettop and others is that is shuns the usual Intel Atom processor  for a 1.7GHz AMD Athlon II Neo K125 CPU.  It’s a  single core CPU (the slowest in AMD’s new low power line of chips), but Acer says it should still offer better performance than most single core Atom processors.  There’s also NVIDIA GeForce 9200 graphics, which enable HD video playback through the VGA or HDMI outputs and the usual 802.11b/g/n WiFi, Gigabit Ethernet, 4 USB ports, a flash card reader, SPDIF port, 2GB of RAM, and a 160GB hard drive. The ER1402 runs Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit.

You can check out the full specs of the eMachines ER1401 after the break.

Like the recent Zotac ZBOX HD-AD01, there’s another nettop on the block with an AMD processor.  Namely, the eMachine’s ER1401).  There are two proessor options, either an Athlon II Neo K325 processor (dual core, 1.3GHz) or a lower end Athlon II Neo K125 processor (1.7GHz, single core). For grahpics, eMachies have gone with an Integrated GeForce 9200 chip.

There’s also 4GB DDR3 RAM, a 2.5″ SATA storage bay, Gigabit Ethernet, 4x USB 2.0 ports, HDMI, VGA, audio jacks, optical S/PDIF, optional Wi-Fi and a card reader.

Check out the full specs after the break.
